Rehearsal 19

Third Day of Tech!! We were missing two cast members today, Cam who is still sick and Andrea has class. Transitions were rougher but everyone’s acting was still doing great. I think they are definitely ready for the preview tomorrow.

Rehearsal Report 9/19

Call Began: 6:30

Ended: 9:45

General:

Fight and Intimacy call

We did fight and intimacy for all of the characters except for cam, Andrea, and Sami because they were not here at this time. We did an actual kiss instead of a high five for all of the intimacy scenes. All of the scenes were run once, except for the grandma and Wallace punch in scene 14 (which was run 3 times).

Warms up and presets:

Kat ran warm ups with the cast. They stretched, did tongue twisters, etc. After this, all of the actors were given time to check all of their presets and prepare for the show.

Run through (timing: 1 hour 3 minutes)

The scene changes went smoothly (even though we were missing 3 actors). The actors took some of their prep time before the run to plan who would fill in for the missing actors during scene changes.

Kat gave notes to the cast and Emma

When Kat finished her notes, we ran the 3 psychiatrist scenes with Sami (because she came to rehearsal as soon as she finished at temple).

Sound:

Emma ran sound from her computer in the booth today. There were no issues. After the run, Allen added to sound cues (a start and a fade) for the scene change between scenes 1 and 2 as well as an angelic sound in scene 14. Before the run, he also added a sound cue for a punch in scene 14

Props:

Jon did not smush the tomato on Jillian again today (we are doing that tomorrow for the first time). All other props were used as was intended

Costumes:

The cast used costumes in the run through again today. Molly did not have nude tights (Sydney said that molly could borrow hers for tomorrow).

Makeup/Hair:

The cast did makeup and hair for the run again today. There were no issues. (Molly has still not done age-makeup yet)

Lights:

Barb operated lights again today with Emma calling cues. Meghan fixed some cues before the run today. She made the blue-out before scene 11 slightly brighter (since Wallace is still acting during this time). She also made the lights cover more of stage left during scene 11 (since Wallace paces over to that area while he is talking on the phone).

Rehearsal Report 9/18

Call Began: 6:00

Breaks: 6:53-7:00

General:

Fight call: (timing: 8 minutes 3 seconds)

Grandma/Wallace punch (scene 14)

Psychiatrist / Wallace punch (scene 14)

Victoria/ Wallace push (scene 4)

Intimacy call: (timing: 4 minutes 4 seconds)

Victoria and Wallace (scene 7 and scene 14)

Sarah and Wallace (scene 10)

Lili and Wallace (scene 15)

Nina and Wallace (scene 16)

(For the intimacy call, everyone waited in the lobby instead of watching in the room for the privacy of the actors)

Warm Ups

The cast did shakeouts, stretches, walks around the space, tongue twisters and sirens with Kat.

Run Through

We did a full run through. Cam was missing for today’s run, so Kat read her lines, and the cast needed to fill in for her during scene changes. There were no major problems. Emma’s phone died during the run (so we do not have an accurate time for this run-through. However, the run itself did not take the entire 7:00- 8:20 time block – part of that was used for booth set up: headsets, blue lights, etc.)

Sound:

Meghan ran sound today (with Emma calling cues). Tomorrow Allen is going to show Emma how to operate the sound cues from her computer. Today was the first time that we ran sound cues over the Tustin system.

Set:

We still need a pillow for Wallace’s bed.

Props:

Jon did not smush the tomato on Jillian yet (we are waiting until tomorrow).

The picture of mother was not used in scene 10 and the sandwich was not used in scene 4 (because the cast didn’t put those props on during scene changes). The actors continued with the scene- working around the missing props.

Costumes:

The cast used costumes again for the run again today. Caroline was wearing shoes that Kat didn’t like (she said she is bringing in different ones tomorrow). Sydney needs to use a safety pin for her shorts (they are slightly too big for her).

Makeup/Hair:

The cast did hair and makeup for the run through again today. They were able to get ready for the run through in about 30 minutes

Lights:

Barb ran lighting again today. Emma called cues from the booth for the first time today. There were no big issues

Rehearsal 18

Second run through/day of tech. Cam is sick now which isn’t great for transitions but everything went well besides that. Everyone is pulling their weight and they did a great job regardless.

Rehearsal Report 9/17

Call Began: 6:30

Breaks: 7:22-7:30

General:

Fight call:

Grandma/Wallace punch (scene 14)

Psychiatrist / Wallace punch (scene 14)

Victoria/ Wallace push (scene 4)

Nina/Wallace hit (scene 19)

Victoria stabbing (scene 14)

Mother death (scene 2)

Intimacy call:

Wendy and Wallace (scene 17)

Lili and Wallace (scene 15)

Nina and Wallace (scene 16)

Sarah and Wallace (scene 10)

(For the intimacy call, everyone waited in the lobby instead of watching in the room)

Warm Ups

Kat did some warm-ups with the cast. They did a shake-out, and then they did some fun tongue-twisters.

Run Through (timing: 1 hour and 14 minutes)

The run ran a little longer than normal because we didn’t have Caroline or Sami to do the scene changes. Kat read lines for Caroline and Sami (psychiatrist and victoria). Jon called for line 2 times – no one else called for line. Emma and Bard also used headsets today (for the first time).

Notes

Kat gave notes to the cast. At this time, Barb left rehearsal. Orli stayed to fix a couple of set lighting cues. Kat told the cast that today was the last day that they could call for line.

Sound:

Emma ran sound cues for today’s run through. Today was the first day that we used music during the scene changes. Instead of running sound off of the system, we just played the cues (without fades) from Emma’s computer.

Set:

We used the new desk, instead of the rolling dresser for rehearsal today (as well as yesterday- I forgot to mention it in the last rehearsal report- I’m deeply sorry)

Props:

Bring baby wipes for Jillian to clean tomatoes off of herself

Bring hand sanitizer (Cam is allergic to peanut butter- Jon and Andrea must clean their hands after they deal with the peanut butter props)

Bring spoon for peanut butter (scene 18)

We still need a pillow for the bed (Dean said that he is planning on bringing one of his own to rehearsal tomorrow)

We got new sheets for the bed and a briefcase for the psychiatrist today. (Thanks Dean!)

Jon held the tomato today for prologue and epilogue, however he did not smush it on Jillian yet. (We are planning on starting to smush the tomato at Wednesday’s rehearsal)

Costumes:

Today was our first run in costumes. We didn’t have any major costume issues. Some of the scene changes took a little longer because Jon was still changing. Also, Jon took his shoes off in scene 3, and then had his shoes untied until scene 13 because he didn’t have time to retie them (now, Jon will not take his shoes off in scene 3)

Makeup/Hair:

All of the actors did hair and makeup today. Many of them came to rehearsal with hair and makeup already done (so we do not have accurate prep-timing for today). Cam was late coming back to warm-ups because she was doing makeup in the bathroom.

Lights:

Barb came to run the light board today. Orli taught Barb how to operate the board, and then she operated for the run of the show. After the run of the show, Orli fixed some cues (she made the blue-outs for scene changes dimmer and she made the spot for the prologue smaller and sharper)

Rehearsal 17

The run through went well considering that Sami was sick and Caroline was absent. Everyone pulled through and did their best since two cast mates were missing. The notes are beginning to get less and less so that feels good.
